Oak Hill Fire Tower located in Concord, NH is a pain to get to. There is no direct way to get to the fire tower unless you want to hike two and a half miles each way. The maze of trails are not hard, but and are actually quite flat. They just are quite a distance away from the fire tower. The lack of real elevation gain, made it pretty quick to make it to the summit.

  • We started from the incredibly small Oak Hill Rd parking lot. It has room for about two cars, but there is room on the opposite side of the road to pull off and safely park.
  • From there we just gradually made our way out to the fire tower. Jumping from trail to trail and following what Gaia estimated as the shortest distance.
  • Logging is occurring just before the summit and it looks like war zone.
  • There are some good views and you can see four other fire towers from this one.
  • There is a toilet on this summit, too, but lacks privacy.
  • On the way down we took a more direct way and it took about the same amount of time.
Luti Loop trailhead on Oak Hill Rd.

I thought the trail was going to ascend this, but it actually just goes around it. There is really no elevation gain until you get the fire tower section.

Cross the old rock wall and start the small climb up to the fire tower.

Lots of communication towers on the summit.
Two more, including a cell phone tower.
Mt. Kearsarge
Belknap Mountain
The watchtower has a panic room style lock...

Why so serious???
No door on that potty!

Is this available for rent?
It would make a unique rental!
I would love to know ore about this. It does not look like a graveyard. Maybe a well? Was this discovered during the logging?

GPS cut out on the way back to the trailhead for a short section.
