To complete the Terrifying 25, BishopX and I had to get creative. The last three hikes were all short, but would require greater than three hour drives each way for both of us. We decided to do a tour of the Great North Woods of NH and over the span of three days we would hike a Terrifying 25 trail each day as well as another mountain in the vicinity.

Our first hike was Table Rock, which is located in the Dixville Notch State Park area.
  • There are two trailheads. Trailhead 57 will get you to the infamous cliff in just over a quarter of a mile. Take note, though, it is a steep climb and a real butt kicker after three hours in the car. Do some stretching or maybe jog a bit on the road before going for this.
  • The cliff is amazing and has great views. Prepare to test your nerves as you walk out to the edge to get a classic photo.
  • The "Easy Way", Trail 50, is much easier, but is also close to a mile in length.
This is a worthy entry into the Terrifying 25 list. I just wish it was not so far away as the drive kills any real incentive to visit it again.

Trailhead 57 is at this sign. If you pass it then you have gone too far.

The Balsams (still closed as of 2019)
Looking straight down from the cliff at my good ole faithful Civic.

Old Speck
Monadnock Mountain...wait what? NH is not very original in naming mountains...

This is a larger trailhead/parking area.
Before entering the Dixville Notch State Park, there is a wildlife viewing structure.
Nice view of the road. At mid-day there was not much chance to see anything else especially with all the road noise.

GPS was steady for this short trip.
